Sharon Bishoff Bio
Biography
Sharon Bischoff studied Fine Art at the University of Natal in the 1970s. She is a “figurative fine artist” who combines the visual, technical and conceptual, characterized by good draughtsmanship and a mixed technique of graphite, water pencils and acrylic.
Sharon believes that “making marks” goes beyond being a technical exercise, making visible the character of the subject through the actual act of drawing, of bringing pencil marks alive to say something which forces the viewer to look beyond the figure to also see something intangible.
Her work has been seen in the Riverbend Art and Wine Gallery Exhibition 2017, solo RK Contemporary exhibition 2021, Solo Studios Intimate Encounters 2019, 2021, 2022, Sanlam Portraiture Awards 2017, 2019, 2021, KZNSA Exhibition 2017, 2018 (both Gold Medal Winners) at the Rust-en-Vrede Gallery in Group Exhibitions 2021, 2022 and the Breyten Breytenbach Gallery – Group Exhibitions 2020, 2021.
